Collage concept piece #2

The second photo to this series. I have started coming up with other ideas for the next several collages. I'm going to vary the number of images that comprise each collage since I feel that will add interest. Too much of a good thing you know. A central theme is definately starting to develop itself.

Collage concept piece.

An experiment in collage using randomly grabbed web photos. Many of the elements and concepts that contributed to this project are things I've witnessed, heard or read about recently. Stay tuned for more images related to this theme.

Additive-Free

I read this somewhere, in reference to nude hiking.

"Whenever possible hike in a group of mixed gender. It is frustrating but true: too many people think that a lone nude woman must want sexual attention and that a lone nude man must be a pervert."

I would tend to agree.

Geocaching

So, it would seem there is yet another diversion to which I shall devote my entire reserve of time and effort to pursue. At least for the time being. Geocaching. If you have no clue what it is, I shall inform you. Basically it is mucking about in various locations, with the assistance of a GPS, in an attempt to find a hidden cache. Various websites give you GPS coordinates and you use them to find buckets, bottles, ammo cans, etc that have been hidden in woods, old buildings, along roadsides or any of a number of unlimited other possibilities. The containers are used as storage devices and typically have a small journal and a pen inside so that you may record the time and date of your 'find'. In addition many of them have numerous small 'trade' items that you may partake of. You take an item and leave an item of your own. It can be anything really. Once you have recorded your entry and swapped items you carefully close the container and reconceal it in the location it was found for others to find later. Geocaching.com is a great place to get a start. It lists thousands of current caches you may seek and allows you to record comments and get hints to help you with your questing. If this sounds like a waste of time, it probably is. But is it fun? Definitely. The thrill of my first find brought back all the memories of my youth, exploring the neighbors old barn or the train depot in town. Great fun. It has also given me an idea. I'm considering doing some type of art project with images I have taken of each find. If you decide to try geocaching, good luck. Keep checking back as I will be posting shots of the cache finds as I make them.
